Centre of Excellence in Teaching & Learning (CETL) University of Chittagong
The Centre of Excellence in Teaching & Learning (CETL), University of Chittagong (UC) is a research based and service driven entity that assist the university to attain its strategic objectives in teaching and learning by offering; 1) Appropriate programs to enhance the quality of performance as teachers of the new faculty members and those graduates who aspire to be teachers; 2) Professional enrichment activities such as seminars and periodical workshops; 3) Consultations services to faculty members; and 4) Hosting of leading researchers and practitioners in the field of higher education. The activities of the CET1, spread over the areas of among other things: devising new approaches to teaching and learning, curriculum designing, assessing. el.earning and evaluating the teaching and teaming performances.
Vision:
The vision of CETL is to place the University of Chittagong at the forefront of learning and teaching among universities of Bangladesh and to lead it to the regional and global standard.
Mission:
The mission of CE.TL is to support, advance, and improve teaching effectiveness and students learning process; augment scholarship of teaching and learning; disseminate the knowledge of teaching and learning to both internal and external patrons; and serve as a catalyst for learning-centered education.
Aims and Objectives:
To facilitate the professional and intellectual development of faculty, staff, and graduate students as educators.
To promote and support a community of teachers where the theory and practice of teaching and learning arc shared.
To help instructors and academic units develop, implement, and assess teaching approaches and methods.
To encourage innovativeness in university teaching and learning.
To support use of appropriate technology in enhancing university teaching and learning.
To assist individual instructors/teachers assess their teaching effectiveness and the students' learning capacity.
To develop and sustain a university culture that recognizes and rewards both scholarly teaching and the scholarship of teaching and learning.
To promote student learning as central to accomplishing the teaching/learning mission of the university.
Specific Functions:
Organizing need based training programs for the faculty, students and support staffs of CU and other regional universities, colleges and institutions of higher education.
Designing and carrying out research on teaching and learning in higher education. iii) Publishing journals, electronic resource bases, and designing curriculum for faculty development programs.
Offering certificate/diploma courses.
Developing a pool of competent trainers at the university.
Arranging need based workshops and seminars to support diverse range of academics.
Biding consultation services.
To perform such other functions and activities to facilitate the attainment of set objectives of the centre with the approval of proper authority.
